EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Part-Time Research Assistant

Issues Research, a contract research firm based in Durango, Colorado, has been awarded a fourth annual contract by the Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation based in New York City, to help promote a high-performance health care system. We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time research assistant.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities of the position include the following:

Compile information and draft summaries of reports on health care topics and case-study organizations using the Internet and online resources such as PubMed.

Analyze complex data using Microsoft Excel functions and prepare presentations and charts using Microsoft Powerpoint.

Maintain a bibliographic database using EndNote software and a database of research projects using Microsoft Access.

Support contract and project management tasks such as bookkeeping using QuickBooks, preparing quarterly financial reports in Microsoft Excel, drafting meeting minutes, transcribing interviews, and proofing reports.
Successful performance in the job includes willingness to handle any assignment necessary to further the goals of the contract. This may include taking on responsibility in other areas if the need arises.
QUALIFICATIONS
College degree and related experience in a relevant field; a Masters-level degree and/or experience in the health care field would be a plus.
Analytic skills including ability to gather, assess, and synthesize information from various sources, prepare graphics and tabular data presentations with attention to detail and responsibility for verifying the accuracy of information.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Organizational skills including the ability to manage projects, work on multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Strong computer skills, including Internet searching and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Candidates must be interested and willing to learn new computer skills as needed. Experience using QuickBooks, EndNote, and Microsoft Access (or equivalent software) would be a plus.
Intellectual curiosity including interest in health care.
Self-motivation, flexibility, good judgment, integrity, and ability to work as a team member in a high-demand, multiple-task environment with changing priorities.
COMPENSATION AND HOURS
We offer flexible hours (16 hours per week) and competitive compensation (up to $20 per hour depending on qualifications). This is a one-year contract position with the potential for annual renewals.
